KYC and Verification

Why We Verify Your Identity

At Spinko, maintaining a safe, secure, and fair gaming environment for all our players is paramount. Identity verification is a cornerstone of this commitment. By confirming your identity, we can prevent fraud, deter underage gambling, and comply with strict regulatory obligations imposed by our licensing authority. This process safeguards your account from unauthorized access and ensures that Spinko operates with the highest standards of integrity and responsibility. Our goal is to protect both our players and the operational integrity of Spinko.

What KYC (Know Your Customer) Means

KYC, or Know Your Customer, is a regulatory requirement that mandates financial institutions and online gambling operators, like Spinko, to verify the identity of their customers. This involves collecting and reviewing specific documentation to confirm who you are and where you live. The primary objectives of KYC are to prevent money laundering, combat terrorist financing, and ensure compliance with international anti-money laundering (AML) laws. It is a critical part of our commitment to responsible gaming and financial security.

When Verification Is Required

Identity verification is an ongoing process that may be triggered at various stages of your interaction with Spinko. Typically, you will be asked to complete verification:

  • Upon registration of your account.
  • Before your first withdrawal, or when cumulative withdrawals reach a certain threshold.
  • When there are changes to your personal details, such as a new address.
  • If there are any suspicious or unusual activities detected on your account.
  • Periodically, as part of our ongoing compliance checks, even if you have previously been verified.
  • When depositing large sums of money, or when cumulative deposits reach a certain threshold.

Spinko reserves the right to request verification at any time deemed necessary to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

Documents You May Be Asked to Provide

To complete the verification process, Spinko typically requests specific documents. These are categorized to confirm your identity, address, and ownership of payment methods. All documents must be valid, current, and clearly legible. We generally require digital copies, such as high-resolution photographs or scans. We will provide secure methods for you to upload these documents.

Proof of Identity

To verify your identity, we require a clear, government-issued photographic identification document. This document must show your full name, date of birth, a photograph, and an expiry date. Acceptable forms of proof of identity include:

  • A valid passport.
  • A valid national identity card.
  • A valid driving licence (both front and back).

The document must not be expired and all details must be clearly visible. Selfies with your ID are sometimes requested for enhanced security measures.

Proof of Address

To confirm your residential address, we require a document that clearly displays your full name and current address, issued within the last three months. The document must be dated and from an official source. Acceptable forms of proof of address include:

  • A utility bill, for example, electricity, gas, water, or internet.
  • A bank statement or credit card statement.
  • A government-issued letter or tax statement.

Mobile phone bills are generally not accepted as proof of address. The document must be addressed to you at the address registered on your Spinko account.

Payment Method Verification

To ensure the security of financial transactions and prevent fraud, we also verify the payment methods used on your Spinko account. The specific documents required depend on the payment method:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: We may request a copy of the front and back of the card. For security, please obscure the middle eight digits of the card number on the front and the CVV/CVC code on the back. Your name, the first six, and the last four digits of the card number, and the expiry date must be visible.
  • E-Wallets (e.g., Skrill, Neteller, PayPal): A screenshot of your e-wallet account page showing your registered name and email address or account ID is typically required.
  • Bank Transfers: A copy of a bank statement showing your name, bank logo, account number, and recent transactions may be requested.

The name on the payment method must match the name registered on your Spinko account. Third-party payments are strictly prohibited.

Source of Funds and Enhanced Due Diligence

In certain circumstances, particularly for large transactions or when cumulative deposits and withdrawals reach significant thresholds, Spinko may be required to request documentation proving your source of funds (SOF) or source of wealth (SOW). This is part of our enhanced due diligence (EDD) obligations under anti-money laundering regulations. Examples of documents that may be requested include:

  • Bank statements showing the origin of funds.
  • Payslips or employment contracts.
  • Proof of inheritance or property sale documents.
  • Investment portfolio statements.

This information is handled with the utmost confidentiality and is solely used to comply with our regulatory duties. Failure to provide satisfactory SOF/SOW documentation may result in account restrictions or closure.

The Verification Process and Timeframes

Once you submit your documents, our dedicated verification team reviews them. We aim to process all verification requests as quickly as possible, typically within 24 to 48 hours. However, during peak times or if additional information is required, this may take longer. You will be notified via email or through your Spinko account portal about the status of your verification. If any documents are unclear or insufficient, we will contact you to request new or additional information. Please ensure that the documents you provide are clear, complete, and meet our specified criteria to avoid delays.

Keeping Your Documents Safe

Spinko treats your personal data and submitted documents with the highest level of security and confidentiality. All information is stored securely in accordance with our Privacy Policy and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. We employ advanced encryption technologies and strict access controls to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your documents are used solely for the purpose of identity verification and regulatory compliance and are not shared with third parties except as required by law or our licensing authority.

Anti-Money Laundering Compliance

Spinko is fully committed to combating money laundering and terrorist financing. Our KYC and verification procedures are integral to our comprehensive Anti-Money Laundering (AML) framework. We adhere to all applicable AML laws and regulations mandated by our licensing authority. This involves monitoring transactions, reporting suspicious activities, and maintaining detailed records of customer identities and transactions. By enforcing these strict policies, Spinko helps to prevent financial crime and maintain the integrity of the global financial system.

Age Verification and Protecting Minors

Underage gambling is strictly prohibited at Spinko. Our verification processes include robust age verification checks to ensure that all our players are 18 years of age or older, or the legal age for gambling in their jurisdiction, whichever is higher. Any account found to belong to a minor will be immediately closed, and any winnings forfeited. We take our responsibility to protect minors very seriously and encourage parents and guardians to use filtering software to prevent access to gambling sites.

If Verification Is Delayed or Unsuccessful

If your verification process is delayed, it is often due to unclear documents, missing information, or a need for further review. We will contact you directly if we require additional details or clarification. If verification is unsuccessful after multiple attempts, it may lead to restrictions on your account, such as inability to deposit or withdraw, or ultimately, account closure. We will always communicate the reasons for any such actions. It is crucial to provide accurate and truthful information to ensure a smooth verification process.
