KYC and Verification

Why We Verify Your Identity

At Spinko, we are committed to providing a secure and responsible gaming environment for all our players. Identity verification is a fundamental part of this commitment. It protects both you, the player, and Spinko as an operator. By confirming your identity, we prevent fraud, ensure that only eligible individuals participate in our games, and comply with strict regulatory requirements imposed by our licensing authority. This process helps maintain the integrity of our platform and ensures fair play for everyone.

What KYC (Know Your Customer) Means

KYC, or Know Your Customer, refers to the mandatory process of identifying and verifying the identity of our customers. This is a standard practice across regulated financial services and online gaming industries worldwide. For Spinko, KYC means we collect and verify certain personal information and documents from you. This allows us to understand who our players are, assess potential risks, and fulfill our legal and regulatory obligations, particularly concerning anti-money laundering and responsible gaming.

When Verification Is Required

Identity verification is typically required at several key stages of your interaction with Spinko:

  • Upon Registration: We may request initial verification details when you first sign up for an account.
  • Before Your First Withdrawal: To comply with anti-money laundering regulations and to protect your funds, full verification is usually mandatory before your first withdrawal request can be processed.
  • When Reaching Specific Deposit/Withdrawal Thresholds: Our internal risk management policies, along with regulatory requirements, may trigger additional verification checks if your deposits or withdrawals reach certain cumulative amounts.
  • Suspicious Activity: If our security systems detect any unusual or suspicious activity on your account, we will initiate further verification to protect your account from unauthorised access or fraudulent use.
  • Periodic Reviews: We conduct periodic reviews of customer accounts to ensure that the information we hold remains accurate and up-to-date.

Documents You May Be Asked to Provide

To complete the verification process, you may be asked to provide one or more of the following types of documents:

  • Proof of Identity
  • Proof of Address
  • Proof of Payment Method
  • Source of Funds documentation

All documents must be valid, legible, and show all relevant details. Copies must be clear, complete, and unedited. We reserve the right to request additional documentation if the initial submissions are unclear or insufficient.

Proof of Identity

To verify your identity, we typically require a copy of a valid, government-issued photographic identification document. This document must clearly show your full name, date of birth, photograph, and document expiry date. Acceptable forms of identification include:

  • Passport (full double-page spread)
  • National ID Card (both front and back)
  • Driving Licence (both front and back, if applicable)

The document must be current and not expired. We cannot accept temporary or provisional documents in most cases.

Proof of Address

To verify your residential address, we require a document that clearly displays your full name and current residential address. This document must be dated within the last three months. Please ensure that the entire document is visible, including the issuer's logo or letterhead. Acceptable forms of proof of address include:

  • Utility bill (e.g., electricity, water, gas, internet, landline phone bill)
  • Bank statement or credit card statement
  • Government-issued tax notification

Mobile phone bills are generally not accepted as proof of address. The name and address on the document must match the details registered on your Spinko account.

Payment Method Verification

To ensure the security of your transactions and to prevent fraud, we may require verification of the payment methods you use to deposit or withdraw funds from your Spinko account. The specific documents required will depend on the payment method used:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: We may ask for a copy of the front and back of the card. For security purposes, please obscure the middle six digits of the long card number on the front and the CVV/CVC code on the back. Your name, the first six and last four digits of the card number, and the expiry date must remain visible.
  • E-Wallets (e.g., Skrill, Neteller, PayPal): We may request a screenshot of your e-wallet account page, clearly showing your name, email address, and the account ID.
  • Bank Transfers: We may require a bank statement or a screenshot of your online banking portal showing your name, account number, and the bank's logo.

The name on the payment method must match the name registered on your Spinko account. Third-party payments are strictly prohibited.

Source of Funds and Enhanced Due Diligence

In certain circumstances, particularly for larger transactions or if required by our regulatory obligations, Spinko may need to conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and request proof of your source of funds (SOF) or source of wealth (SOW). This is a crucial step in combating money laundering and terrorist financing. We understand this may seem intrusive, but it is a legal requirement. Examples of documents that may be requested include:

  • Bank statements showing the origin of significant deposits.
  • Payslips or employment contracts to verify income.
  • Documentation related to inheritance, property sales, or other significant financial events.

All information provided for SOF/SOW purposes will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and used solely for compliance purposes.

The Verification Process and Timeframes

Once you submit your documents through our secure portal, our dedicated verification team will review them. We aim to process all verification requests as quickly as possible. Typically, standard verification is completed within 24 to 72 hours, though this may vary depending on the volume of requests and the clarity of the documents provided. You will be notified via email or through your Spinko account portal once your verification is complete or if further information is required. Please ensure all documents are clear, complete, and meet the specified requirements to avoid delays.

Keeping Your Documents Safe

Spinko employs robust security measures to protect your personal information and submitted documents. All data is transmitted and stored securely using advanced encryption technologies. We adhere strictly to data protection regulations, including GDPR. Your documents are accessed only by authorised personnel for verification purposes and are never shared with unauthorised third parties. We retain your information for the period required by law and our licensing authority, after which it is securely disposed of.

Anti-Money Laundering Compliance

Spinko is committed to preventing money laundering and terrorist financing. Our KYC and verification procedures are an integral part of our comprehensive Anti-Money Laundering (AML) framework. We operate in strict accordance with the AML laws and regulations of our operating jurisdiction. This involves monitoring transactions, reporting suspicious activities to the relevant authorities, and maintaining detailed records. Our commitment to AML compliance ensures a safer environment for all legitimate players and helps to combat financial crime.

Age Verification and Protecting Minors

Under no circumstances do we permit individuals under the legal gambling age to open an account or participate in gaming activities on Spinko. Age verification is a critical component of our KYC process. We rigorously check your date of birth against your submitted identification documents. Any attempt by a minor to register an account will result in immediate account closure and reporting to relevant authorities. We employ various methods to detect and prevent underage gambling, including age verification software and manual checks. Protecting minors is a paramount responsibility for Spinko.

If Verification Is Delayed or Unsuccessful

If your verification is delayed, it is often because the documents provided were unclear, incomplete, or did not meet our requirements. We will contact you to request additional or clearer documentation. If verification is ultimately unsuccessful, for example, if we cannot confirm your identity or if you fail to provide the necessary information within a specified timeframe, your account may be suspended or closed. This decision is made to ensure compliance with our regulatory obligations and to protect the integrity of our platform. We will always communicate the reasons for any such action.
